Okay, so for any of you who follow me, it has been really obvious that I have been a little MIA….like for about four months! A lot of you have been emailing and messaging me asking why I haven’t been blogging, and here is the answer…I don’t really know! Well, that isn’t entirely true. I can list a lot of different reasons that, in and of themselves, would not keep a person from writing. However, when piled together, all of these little reasons became one giant mountain that I just couldn’t seem to scale.
It started off small. Life just got really busy with the holidays for my family, and although I am Not Quite Mom of the Year, I really do want to be the best mom that I can be. Plus, I went through a personal family issue that, again, by itself should not have kept me from writing. But when added to the craziness of the holidays, I just plain became overwhelmed. And once I got out of the swing of things, it has been extremely difficult to get back in the groove…thus the giant mountain.
As I look back over the past few months, there is another thing that stands out as impacting my blogging. After watching the documentary Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, I decided to give juicing a shot. In December, I completed my first reboot. It was both the easiest and hardest thing I have ever done. See, I have struggled with my weight my entire life. But unlike other addicts, I can’t just avoid my addiction or cut it out cold turkey. I have to eat. But through juicing, I have found that I can kind of give up food for short periods of time. So, that was the easy part. However, juicing is VERY HARD! Probably the hardest thing I have ever done. But well worth it. I felt so much better…and my headaches went away! Since then, I completed another reboot and am currently in the middle of what I hope to be a long-term reboot. If you haven’t seen Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, here is the trailer. You can catch the full movie on Netflix or Hulu, or watch it online at http://www.rebootwithjoe.com/watch-fat-sick-and-nearly-dead/ Needless to say, it is hard to blog about food when you aren’t eating! I’m not a food blogger, but since I am a mom, the majority of my posts are recipes, so this definitely impacts my writing. But I am still cooking for my family, so expect plenty of recipes – some tried and true family recipes and some new plant-based recipes as I try to move my family to a healthier lifestyle. Thanks for sticking around…I promise it will be worth the wait!
